Cast aluminium alloy enclosures for gas-filled high-voltage switchgear and controlgear (Adopted CENELEC EN 50 052:1986 including amendments A1:1990 and A2:1993, with Canadian deviations)

Standard Details

CSA Preface This is the first edition of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-C50052, Cast aluminium alloy enclosures for gas-filled high-voltage switchgear and controlgear , which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) Standard EN 50 052:1986 (1986-09) including Amendments Al:1990 and A2:l993. CSA Standards are developed through the dedication of time by Committee members and by financial support through sales of Standards and through voluntary contributions. Major funding in support of the consensus process for this Standard was provided by the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA), whose assistance is acknowledged with thanks. This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Technical Committee on Switchgear and Controlgear under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Electrical Engineering and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. A list of the members of these Committees is available upon request. This Standard has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada. Scope This Standard applies to cast aluminium alloy enclosures pressurized with dry air, inert gases, eg. sulphur hexafluoride, carbon tetrafluoride, or nitrogen or a mixture of such gases, used in indoor or outdoor installations of high-voltage switchgear and controlgear, where the gas is used principally for its dielectric and/or arc-quenching properties, with rated voltages (1) 1 kV and up to and including 52 kV and with gas-filled compartments with design pressure greater than 3 bar (gauge); and (2) 72.5 kV and above. The enclosures comprise parts of electrical equipment not necessarily limited to the following examples: - Circuit-breakers - Switch-disconnectors - Disconnectors - Earthing switches - Current transformers - Voltage transformers - Surge arresters - Busbars and connections The scope also covers pressurized components such as the centre chamber of live tank switchgear, gas-insulated current transformers, etc. Canadian Deviations are included in this Standard.
