1.1 This test method provides a quantitative assessment of the performance of liquid antimicrobial test substances including concentrated liquids, ready-to-use liquids, gels, sprays (aerosol, pressurized spray, trigger, pump, and foaming spray dispensers), and water-soluble powders (including water-soluble tablets) against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella enterica designed for use on hard, non-porous surfaces. The test method may be appropriately modified to accommodate organisms not defined herein; however, the precision and bias statements do not apply.

1.2 This test method uses log reduction (LR) as the quantitative measure of efficacy for antimicrobial test substances against test microbes on a hard, non-porous surface.

1.3 This test method is based on principles established for Test Method E2197 and an OECD Guidance Document.

1.4 Training in basic microbiology and aseptic technique is required to perform this assay.

1.5 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
