Oil/Gas-Fired Commercial/Industrial Pressure Washers and Steam Cleaners

Standard Details

Preface This is the second edition of CSA Standard B140.11 (now CAN/CSA B140.11 ), Oil/Gas-Fired Commercial Industrial Pressure Washers and Steam Cleaners. It supersedes the first edition published in 1967 as B140.11, Oil-Fired Commercial-Industrial Steam Cleaning Machines and B203.10, Gas-Fired Commercial-Industrial Steam Cleaning Machines. This Standard is written in SI (metric) units. The major changes in this edition, aside from the designation, are the additional requirements for combustible materials used in the construction of the machines and the more comprehensive test requirements for gas-fired machines. This Standard was prepared by the CSA Subcommittee on Oii/Gas-Fired Commercial/Industrial Pressure Washers and Steam Cleaners of the Technical Committee on Oil-Burning Appliance Standards under the jurisdiction of the Steering Committee on Fire Safety and Fuel-Burning Equipment, and was formally approved by these Committees. It has been approved as a National Standard of Canada. Scope 1.1 This Standard covers the performance, construction, testing, marking, installation, operation, and servicing of complete commercial/industrial pressure washers and steam cleaners that are either gas-fired or oil-fired. 1.2 The Standard applies to (a) complete machines comprising a continuous coil-type heating system, with no space for steam accumulation, in which the solution is heated to a temperature below the saturation temperature for the pressure in the coil and intended to discharge droplets of hot solution 100°C (212°F) or lower from each cleaning nozzle at high velocity; (b) machines intended to discharge only the cleaning solution and machines intended to discharge cleaning solution or rinse water as required by the operator; (c) machines that may be portable or installed as stationary equipment; (d) machines that are manually controlled from the machine to supply the demand at the cleaning nozzle(s) and machines that are automatically controlled in accordance with the demand at the cleaning nozzle(s); (e) machines that supply one or more cleaning nozzles and are primarily intended for cleaning or surface-treating purposes; (f) machines driven by electric motors, internal combustion engines, or other prime movers. 1.3 Clauses 1 to 8 apply to both oil- and gas-fired machines. Clause 9 covers additional requirements for gas-fired machines and Clause 10 covers additional requirements for oil-fired machines. 1.4 Devices or products that comply with these requirements shall not be acceptable if, when examined and tested, they are found to have additional features that impair the results contemplated by the requirements. 1.5 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
