Standard Details

CSA Preface This is the third edition of CSA C22.2 No. 60974-5, Arc welding equipment — Part 5: Wire feeders , which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60974-5 (fourth edition, 2019-01). It supersedes the previous edition published in 2009 as CAN/CSA-E60974-5 (adopted IEC 60974-5:2007). It is one in a series of Standards issued by CSA Group under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CSA C22.2 No. 60974-5" throughout. This Standard is intended to be used in conjunction with CSA C22.2 No. 60974-1:19, Arc welding equipment — Part 1: Welding power sources (adopted IEC 60974-1:2017, with Canadian deviations). This Standard is considered suitable for use for conformity assessment within the stated scope of the Standard. This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Subcommittee on Arc Welding Equipment, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Technical Committee on Industrial Products and the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Requirements for Electrical Safety, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope This part of IEC 60974 specifies safety and performance requirements for industrial and professional equipment used in arc welding and allied processes to feed filler wire. This document is applicable to WIRE FEEDERS and to WIRE-FEED CONTROLS that are stand-alone (separate from the welding equipment), housed together in a single enclosure or housed in a single enclosure with other welding equipment. The WIRE FEEDER can be suitable for manually or mechanically guided torches. This document is not applicable to spool-on torches, which are covered by IEC 60974-7. NOTE 1 Typical allied processes are electric arc cutting and arc spraying. NOTE 2 This document does not include electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements, which are given in IEC 60974-10
