ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) 2017 Edition

About the Code

The first edition of ASME’s now-legendary Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) was issued in 1914 and published in 1915. It remains a worldwide model for assuring the safety, reliability and operational efficiency envisioned by ASME’s founders.

The BPVC is issued once every two years and is comprised of 28 separate volumes. It is kept current by Boiler and Pressure Committees, a volunteer group of more than 1,000 technical experts. More than 100,000 copies of the BPVC are in use in 100 countries around the world, with translations into a number of languages.

ASME BPVC 2017 establishes rules of safety—relating to pressure integrity—governing the design, fabrication and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels, and nuclear power plant components during construction.
